Valley Center Trails Hike

Hellhole Canyon Preserve Loop

This hike starts at the Hellhole Canyon Preserve parking lot and continues with a steep descent to Hell Creek; total distance is about four miles and includes steep uphill sections. Plan on the hike lasting about two hours.This hike is rated moderate; participants should be physically fit and have some recent experience walking longer than an hour. The hike is on established trails, some narrow. Long pants, water, and sun protection are recommended.

Meeting place: Hellhole Canyon Preserve parking lot, 19324 Santee Lane, Valley Center. Take Woods Valley Road for 3.9 miles. Continue onto Paradise Mtn Rd for 3.3 miles. Turn right onto Los Hermanos Ranch Rd/Paradise Mtn Rd and immediately turn left onto Kiavo Rd. Take Kiavo Rd. for .5 miles to Santee Ln. and make a left into the preserve. Gates open at 8 am. We will proceed to the parking lot, get organized, and begin the hike at 8:10.
