Board Meeting Minutes

February 21, 2018

 

Present: Colleen Mackinnon, Jim Schafer, Jerry Harmon, Fred Woods, Rick Paul, Dick Althouse and Liz Ridder. Guest: Danielle Cupp.

 

Introduction: Colleen opened the meeting at 7 PM at the Grape Day Train Station.

 

Treasurerís Report: Rick P. will email the finished Treasurerís Report. He also had $485 was received by Paypal. Two expenditures were noted: $19 for GoDaddy renewal and $40 for tax preparations. Jim handed in $114 from iron ranger donations.

 

Newsletter: Denise Harter will submit a tracking team related article.† Jim will continue his updates on GSOB.† Colleen and Fred will compile a piece on the Conway and 7th Grade Field Trips.† We will continue to include the Save 1000 Acres appeal.† Articles should be submitted with photos by April 1st.†

 

School Visits:† A small field trip with Conway Elementary took place in January, the teachers would like to meet again to explore potential experiments that align with the next generation science standards (NGSS) and curriculum.† The 7th grade field trips will commence in March and continue through April.† A new raptor presenter will be introducing new species into the session.† Schedule adjustments may be needed due to new information from the EUSD Transportation Department.

 

Goldspotted Oak Borer:† Dan Hippert is aware of the presence of the pest.† Also, Rick P. has reached out to the council representative for District 2.† The board explored a plan for future action depending on the receipt of further information.†† Stacy McCline continues to be a resource in this domain.† A 2016 article mentions Raphael Rivera as the City Arborist.

 

Restoration:† Dick is continuing his preservation work by exploring options to bring historically accurate farming equipment to the Daley Ranch for display in the area near the outbuildings.† Time appropriate building materials have been made available to him for restoration related purposes.†

 

Escondido History Center History Book:† Daphne Fletcher has reached out the FODR for a possible contribution toward a coffee table book for the history center.† The board is very excited about this project and would like to schedule a meeting between Daphne and Rick Mercurio.†
