Friends Of Daley Ranch Meeting Minutes
JANUARY 13, 2005

Vice President Jerry Harmon opened the meeting at 7 p.m at the Train Station in Grape Day Park, Escondido.

Attendance - Board Members: Jerry Harmon, Rick Paul, Irene O'Neill, Carol Stanford, Fred Woods, and Rick Mercurio. From the City of Escondido, Tony Smock.

Minutes from the previous meeting were approved without reading them.

Irene issued the treasurer's report, which indicated a balance of $13,915.56. We recently received a donation of $500 from Guy and Mary Jo Harman, plus $542 from donations and $236 in renewals.

Tony gave a report from the City of Escondido. He said there will be a meeting of the Council at 4 p.m. on February 2 to discuss opening the ranch house to the public. Repairs and improvements may be needed. A public restroom is another key issue because the present facilities in the house are not adequate, especially considering ADA requirements. A new restroom may have to be built at the site of the present garage, possibly keeping the same exterior look. The ranch house could be converted into an interpretive center with displays. Money may come from the City's ADA funds as well as restoration funds.

Rick Paul reported that the CRN (Conservation Resource Network) meeting for Land Acquisition Criteria will be held February 1 from 4-6 p.m. Fred said he could substitute for Rick at this meeting, where they will brainstorm the ranking of projects. We planned the retreat on February 5. We will meet at the La Honda entrance at 9 a.m. and the City may shuttle us to the ranch house for a tour. We will return to the parking lot about 10:30 and head to Rick Paul's house for the main meeting. Besides going over the San Diego Foundation self survey, we will also discuss the goals and objectives of FODR for 2005. Heavy rain that day means we will meet at Rick's house starting at 9 a.m. Rick will furnish refreshments. The retreat will serve as the February Board meeting. On March 10 we will meet at the Depot. On April 14 we will meet at Rick Mercurio's house.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30

Respectively Submitted;
Rick Mercurio, Secretary
