Friends of Daley Ranch Board Minutes
October 18, 2017
Present: Jim Schafer, Jerry Harmon, Rick Paul, Fred Woods and Rick Mercurio
Minutes & Treasurer’s Report: Jim, as vice president and in the absence of Colleen, opened the meeting at 8 p.m. at Jerry’s home. Jim said he would write up some notes for the September meeting, as no minutes were taken. Rick P submitted his treasurer’s report. He is gradually adding funds into the Ivy account to earn more interest. Jim moved to reimburse Rick M $228.36 for printing, postage and label expenses. Fred seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Daley Ranch Resort: A representative from this proposed development spoke to the FODR Board at the September meeting. No specific plan has been proposed yet, but the City voted to authorize a plan to be created, with the City’s help, at the developer’s expense. Rick M expressed the need for a comprehensive study of the potential impacts of this development on the biological integrity of the Daley Ranch Conservation Bank. He will draft a letter to the City requesting such a study, soliciting input from Board members.
Second Sunday: Rick M has attended the last few of these events, and he reported that the attendance has been fair. Fred is working on signs for the trail that announce hours the ranch house is open on Second Sundays.
November Lunch: The Board discussed details of the Nov. 12 lunch, including ideas for beverages, the PA system, and set up. Jim will contact Colleen to work out logistical details. Speakers will include Jerry and former mayor Lori Pfeiler. Jerry will also secure a speaker from TECC, who will encourage donations to Save1000Acres.
Outreach and Strategic Planning: Jerry asked the Board to consider the need for younger active members of FODR. We all agreed this is important, and we will continue to keep our eyes and ears open for possibilities. The yearly FODR Board “retreat” will be scheduled for a Saturday in January, possibly on the 13th.
Next Meeting: The next Board meeting is set for Wednesday, November 15 at 7 p.m. at the Train Depot.
