Boulder and Ranch House loop, Daley Ranch
*The Ranch House will be open for us!!*
Meet at the La Honda parking lot at 7:50am for an 8am start time. Daley Ranch volunteer Lee Dezan will be leading nature talks along the route. We’ll start on the paved Ranch House road, then add the Boulder Loop trail to get back into different terrain and rock formations. We’ll return to the paved Ranch House road down to the Ranch House, where a ranger will open the Ranch House for us. This is exciting, because the Ranch House is typically closed to the public.
The road to the Ranch House is paved and hilly. The Boulder Loop is a dirt trail and has steep and rocky sections. I’ll likely have my hiking poles with me (and a kiddo on my back). This not stroller friendly, but dogs are welcome. Bring sun protection and plenty of water. Expect approximately 3.5 hours, depending on how much time we spend at the Ranch House. There are bathrooms and water fountains near the Ranch House.
If you’re interested in seeing the Ranch House but are not excited about the Boulder Loop, please email me ASAP to let me know so we can try to accommodate you!! I don’t want anyone to miss out on an opportunity to see the Ranch House if we can help it!
For the most updated hike calendar, check our website. Hikes are still being added!! Thank you for your ideas and input about our hikes!
Heavy rain during 24 hours before hike or steady rain one hour in advance of start time cancels hike. It is also possible (it happened once!) that the hike could be canceled for non-weather reasons, such as illness of the leader and backups. Notice of cancellation will be given on the VCTA FaceBook page and via email, if you contact me in advance to let me know you are coming. Reply to this email at least two days before the hike.
