Mountain Lions at Daley Ranch Presentation
The mountain lion, also known as cougar, puma, catamount, and panther, is the apex predator in our region. Rangers at Daley Ranch have reported sightings this past year, but they are few and far between, because a single mountain lion’s range covers an area much larger than even Daley Ranch’s 3000 acres. They may be few in numbers, but these magnificent beasts command well-deserved respect and admiration.
Expert James Bourdon has been working on the Southern California Mountain Lion Project since 2012. He is based out of the Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve, part of San Diego State University’s Field Station Programs, and he looks forward to sharing updated information including local conservation efforts.
